Program Mission
Our mission is to address global and national health disparities faced by immigrants and refugees and resource poor settings through research, education and clinical practice built upon the principles of health equity, partnership and knowledge sharing.
We believe community-based patient care and proximity to patients provides context, connection and meaning to family physicians, practitioners, and clinical investigators from which to draw on for research and teaching.
We believe that family medicine must link to global health perspectives to improve its responsiveness and impact on primary health research, training and practice.
We believe linking clinical care, research and education are vital to an integrated, holistic approach to both immigrant and refugee health and international primary health care initiatives.
